For new and prospective members
(+Thank you for your interest in joining DeWitt County Sportsmen's Club!
We are accepting new membership applications. Before you decide to apply, please be aware that shooting at aerial targets is not allowed on our shooting ranges due to the close proximity of a lake. We understand it is a deal-breaker for some shotgun enthusiasts and we wouldn't want to disappoint. According to our bylaws, in order to be considered for a range membership, you must "meet all legal requirements - Federal, State, and Local, to own and possess firearms." In practical terms, you must not be a "prohibited person" under the federal law and you must have a valid FOID card if you are a resident of Illinois. Your Membership application (+Family page) and payment may be submitted in person during one of our bi-weekly breakfast meetings (see calendar) or mailed to: ![]()

DeWitt County Sportsmen's Club
P.O. Box 322 Clinton, IL 61727 If your application is accepted, you will be required to attend the Range Rules Class before your membership card is issued and you are allowed to use our range facilities unsupervised. Range Rules Classes are free of charge and are usually offered every other Sunday to coincide with our bi-weekly breakfasts (see calendar).
If you submit your membership application in person before the club's monthly Board of Directors meeting (again, see calendar for the dates), we may be able to approve your application, have you attend the Range Rules Class and issue your membership card all in a single visit. When you become a member, you will be expected to follow the Range Rules and to respect other club regulations (see Standing Rules). Moreover, you will need to contribute two days of work to the club every calendar year (see Member Obligations). Secondary family members, members with disabilities, those 65 years old or older, and members of the military or National Guard who have been deployed away from their permanent place of residence in the preceding year are exempt from the workday requirement. The precise nature of your work will depend on your skills and on the needs of the club. We advertise "workdays" whenever there is a need to clean the clubhouse, do maintenance, repairs, or remodeling, or help with an event. Outside of the scheduled workdays, you may do kitchen duty, clerical jobs, cleaning, or whatever it is you're good at. The workdays are fun!
